Take a piece of Condopedia with you (please)My partner and I have enjoyed hosting Condopedia the last couple of years and made some good friends along the way. What we didn't make was money. Not that we were looking for "who wants to be a millionaire"-type money. We would have welcomed it, of course. But our goal was a project where we could pursue topics we were interested and had experience in and - in offering a valuable service to what seemed to us an underserved demographic - someday quit our day jobs and maybe branch out into unexpected directions. Well, we did all that, but none of it in the right order, so we're now headed in unexpected directions and unable to continue supporting Condopedia (it was supposed to support us -- but then, I guess every parent feels that way!). We're still reluctant to put Condopedia to permanent, restful sleep, however (in that sense, we're good parents). We believe the concept of providing information to self-managed condo associations, where (often) unpaid trustees and officers need to be experts in finance, property maintenance and high-intensity diplomacy, is a sound one. We'd like to see it wind up in good hands. The terms of the deal are "to be discussed" but, I can assure you, it will be a real steal. If we could lose less money than we expect to, we'd be happy. Here's what you'd get: Our NamePeople love our domain name -- it instantly tells you what we're about. "Condopedia" - the place to get all information condo-related. Through direct-mail and web advertising we've generated traffic and interest in our brand. We've incorporated under the name Opedia, Inc. to allow us (or you!) to expand into other areas of knowledge-sharing should the situation arrive. You'll also get our logo, tag lines, everything related to Condopedia. All of our content. This is fairly extensive. We worked with experts in the field but created much of the content ourselves and, as such, retained the copyright. We have written articles and FAQ's on such topics as: Storage in Small Spaces, Saving Money and Plumbing. You'll also get our Forum content where readers and staff have shared tips and painful experiences related to condo management. We've also created a Resource Directory containing service providers sorted by zip code across the country. The list cost us several hundred dollars to acquire and several man-hours to clean, compile and make presentable. We've also created specialized tools, some on-line (in JavaScript) and some Excel-based for figuring out expenses and budgets. Our KnowledgeWe've come up with unique systems for locating and targeting condo associations and for determining and fulfilling the needs of self-managed condo associations. Talk to us. All of this could be yours.
