The Maddox at 738 Rolston will be a slender and unique addition to the Vancouver sky line. The visual presence of concrete is minimized by incorporating clay panel technology which provides a function of solar performance and rain screening. The highlighting results with the Maddox will be a predominantly glass look.


With water and Yale town views, the Maddox is located in the heart of the entertainment district at the south side of downtown Vancouver. Transport options are many with light rail, bus and major thorough fares just out side the lobby doors of the Maddox. The lifestyle markets of Granville Island are just over the Granville street bridge. Water taxi's are easily accessible and within walking distance of the Maddox . Some of the best retail shopping, in this world class city, are just minutes away on Robson Street.[1]

The City of Vancouver and the Cressey group are working together to revitalize the south side. Plans to remove the Granville exit loops will greatly reduce the current traffic noise around the Maddox. The removal of the Granville loops will open up and connect beach avenue and the old 1986 world Exposition grounds creating a commercial market area some what like Granville island. Their goal is to create a sunlit vibrant people friendly neighborhood.[2]


The Maddox project was launched in May of 2011 with construction beginning in August of the same year. As of January 2013 they reached the nineteenth floor. Completion date was planned for late 2013. Maddox incorporates two buildings connected by a breezeway. Building one will be three hundred Feet tall with thirty two floors and twenty five floor plans to choose from. Clay panel structure will be covered by vertical bands of Terra Cotta tiles. Varying tones of umber, sienna, and tawny orange tiles will give the Maddox a subtle and distinctive look on the Vancouver sky line.

Building number two will be seven stories tall and will contain some of the floor plans and amenities including a roof top lounge.

Layout and Features

The Maddox project is really two buildings connected by a breezeway at the 3 level. The low rise building at seven stories will contain loft suites and the roof top social lounge. The main building, at thirty two stories, will have some retail space at ground level the fitness center and steam rooms plus a meeting room.

At street level there will be six townhouses. Starting on the third floor there will be eight homes per floor after the Twenty sixth it tapers to six and the top six floors will house four units per floor. Loft suites, townhouse walk ups, one bedroom some with dens, two bedrooms also with dens or with out all in all encompass twenty five floor plans.

Floor Plans

Maddox offers one and two bedroom units as well as various loft configurations. There are over 25 floor plans to choose from at the Maddox. Here are a few samples:[3]

  • Residents at the Maddox can enjoy a fitness center complete with a men's and women's change rooms. His and hers steam rooms are attached as well.
  • The connected low rise loft building will contain some of the amenities. This includes a rooftop lounge with big screen TV, a media center, complete kitchen for entertaining large groups, a patio and an outdoor children’s play area.
  • Through out the Maddox the suites will have exceptional Cressey walk through kitchens teamed up with Armony Cucine cabinetry from Italy.

LEED standards are engineered into the building plan. Energy efficient forced air and cooling technologies are just part of the long list of greening efforts this progressive design group have used to create this architectural landmark.

The location lends to walking and the use of light rail. The Canada Line of Vancouver's Skytrain system makes the Vancouver Airport a painless commute.[4]


The real estate marketing firm for Maddox, MAC Marketing solutions, is apologizing for having two employees pose as potential buyers in a recent CTV and CBC televised interview. In the interview the administrative assistant and a sales assistant with MAC Marketing Solutions posed as buyers claiming they were sisters, and that their parents were coming over from China to assist them in their purchase. In reality, the women are not even related. The misrepresentation was first spotted by the online communities. Watchdog blogs and message boards brought this story to the Media's attention. The GLOBE AND MAIL ran the story February 14th 2013.[5]

The Real Estate Council of B.C will be investigating the matter.
