Buildings that stand in the exclusive confines of Hollywood have to be a cut above the rest; it comes with the territory. Metropol, however, is a complex that manages to be distinctive even in the rarefied air that it occupies.

Constructed in 2009, Metropol is fairly young when compared to many of its contemporaries. It is also somewhat small compared to many other luxury condominium setups, with a grand total of 41 units available for residents. These 41 units are in turn split up amongst three interconnected buildings, with all of them collectively being under the Metropol banner.

The design of the building is clean and modern, elegant without being overbearing. The outer facade makes heavy use of stained cedar planks combined with metal and glass, resulting in a handsome aesthetic. The interior was designed using the very same ethos; a decision sure to please prospective residents. [1] Built in a Los Angeles neighborhood that is undergoing revitalization, residents have easy access to an abundance of shops and services, with many famous Hollywood sights just minutes away, making it a perfect choice for the discerning buyer who wants something different without sacrificing luxury or amenities in the process.

The Hollywood Palladium

Located just a street down from Hollywood Boulevard, there is now doubt that Metropol is surrounded by history. There are many boutiques and services that are close to Metropol, many just a few steps away from the front doors. For those who want to go sight-seeing, famous attractions like Grauman's Chinese Theater and the Hollywood Palladium are also nearby, with the majority of them being on (or close to) the legendary Boulevard.[2]

Given the close proximity of many stores, one does not need to own a car to travel the neighborhood; walking will easily suffice.[3] Alternatively, there are also a number of transit stops in the vicinity as well, making running errands a simple task.

Built using a striking combination of glass, wood, and steel on the inside and out, Metropol is certainly pleasing to the eye. Designed by Rothenberg Sawasy Architects, the building gives off a warm, pleasant vibe thanks to the stained wood panels on the outside, with the metal and glass adding a touch of modern elements to the mix.

All three buildings share the same general appearance and construction, with no major deviation. The designers also kept sustainability in mind when building Metropol, as they included a variety of green measures to reduce the negative impact on the environment.

The developers of Metropol took great pains to ensure that the structure embraced green living. For instance, the building is equipped with a bio-filter system that takes rainwater and excess water from landscaping, purifies it, and discharges it into Los Angeles' storm water system. In addition, all appliances are Energy Star compliant, the windows are dual glazed, and the landscaping uses a low water setup.[5]

  • There was trouble selling units at first, leading to reduced prices[6]
  • Revive Real Estate Group is Metropol's second management company
  • Currently the only building in Los Angeles that has a bio-filter system that conforms to all regulatory agency standards
