One Evanston Logo

One Evanston is described as an "exceptional and gleaming" 15 story condominium tower located in Evanston, outside of Chicago. The building offers 96 units of varying floor plans from one to three bedroom units of high end finishes, and a "green" design. An extensive list of amenities is offered in the building, including a pool and sundeck, which are said to go along with the development's sustainability initiative. Concierge services like dog walking, plant watering, and car washing are available at One Evanston, not to mention the poolside towel service.

Designer details are included in the interior of the building, from the gracious lobby to the common areas and amenities, to the interiors of the units. One Evanston is skillfully designed and well crafted for functionality. Practical floor plans and designer colors add character to these new homes.

Located in downtown Evanston, residents can easily get to downtown Chicago 12 miles south on the Metra subway. Evanston is a smaller suburb and one of the northern areas that adjoins to Lake Michigan, offering buzzing neighborhood appeal with shops, restaurants, and nightlife.[1]

Located in the heart of Evanston, this luxurious development offers a convenient location just four blocks south of the Metra subway. Although bus stations are closer, public transportation is unlikely needed for daily necessities. Residents enjoy convenient access to restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, outdoor parks, and schools.

There are ten different parks less than half a mile away from One Evanston including Fountain Square, Raymond Park, Merrick Rose Garden, and Curry Park. Car share programs like I-GO and Zip Car stop at the doorstep of One Evanston, so residents can easily acquire quick transport if needed.

The Evanston Public Library is also nearby, as well as Shakespeare Data Bank Library. Bar Louie, which is a popular place for cheap eats and a good atmosphere, is just around the corner from One Evanston at Sherman Avenue and Grove Street. The closest coffee house is also located on the same corner, called K 2 Coffee House.[2]

Built of a concrete perimeter and foundation, One Evanston was completed in 2009 and stands at 15 floors high. The first four floors of the building create a wider base where indoor parking, commercial spaces on the ground level, amenities center for residents, and rooftop deck are housed.

The remainder of the tower is slimmer and the exterior is made primarily of glass with the floor-to-ceiling windows offered in the residences. The exterior of the building is a California stucco, which is smooth and non-grainy to the eye.[3]

Layout and Features

One to three bedroom units are offered at One Evanston, with penthouse units up to 3,000 square feet and city and lake views. Central air conditioning and gas heating is used throughout the residences. In-unit laundry is included, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows, recessed lighting, and indoor parking. Additional storage is available to the residents.

Hardwood floors - some with bamboo hardwood - are included in all of the units. Some units have upgraded custom window treatments with screens installed. Floor plans are large, open, and functional, with minimal lost space and over sized 9 to 10 foot ceilings.

Luxury kitchens include granite counter tops with island bars, stainless steel appliances with gas range and over-the-stove hoods or microwaves, under-mount sinks, and wood cabinetry with under-cabinet lighting. Some of the floor plans include wrap-around kitchens and wide hallways. All units are pre-wired for high speed internet, cable, and satellite TV.

Master bedrooms are large with spa-like ensuite bathrooms with frame-less glass showers and 6-foot soaking tubs. Custom-organized closets and designer lighting are included, and many of the master bedrooms have a feature wall, with one wall painted a vibrant color, and the others stark white.

Generous outdoor spaces are included in each of the units, either as large terraces or balconies. One or two secured parking spaces are included with each residence, as well as available indoor guest parking.[4]

City of Evanston

Once home to the Potawatami Indians, Evanston has a history dating back 150 years and is now an attractive and prosperous city which over 73,000 people call home. It is also home to a bustling-business center and a renowned university, Northwestern University.

First referred to as "Grosse Pointe" by European voyageurs, Evanston is now marked by the Grosse Point Lighthouse. The French explorers believed the area to be of no value. They explored the shoreline, only to find a swamp land, and soon decided against colonization.

The creation of Northwestern University in Evanston changed the course of history for the city, suddenly putting it on the map. The University's creators had a vision not only for a school, but also for the surrounding region. They laid out wider streets, added parks, and on February 15, 1857, renamed the town 'Evanston' in honor of John Evans.

Evanston today is known as a vibrant and diverse area, with cultural interests. Tinkertoys were invented in Evanston in 1914, and it is said that ice cream sundaes also originated from the area.

The Fountain Square Arts Festival takes place in Evanston every year, blocking off one of the busiest streets to display hundreds of arts and crafts.[6]
